Health Professions Training

Health Professions Students        Community Preceptors

Primary Care Practitioners continue to be in short supply in rural and urban underserved communities within Pennsylvania. The AHEC's role is to aid the recruitment of health professionals by developing opportunities and enriching curricula within health professions training programs to provide greater emphasis on communities and primary care.

The AHEC works with the community and the academic institutions to provide placements for students who are training to be physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, and for other health professions at specific community based sites. These rotations expose students to primary care careers in rural and medically underserved communities.
